Noclor, an NHS-based research office serving a partnership of North London NHS Trusts, primary care organisations and social care services, including CNWL, shares this update for Christmas.

As we approach the end of 2025, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported research throughout the year. Our gratitude goes to all the staff, clinicians, academics, researchers, patients, carers, and members of the public who have contributed, collaborated, and been involved in making a difference.

Lynis Lewis, Director at Noclor NHS Research Office, shared the following Christmas message:

“As 2025 comes to an end, it feels like a good moment to pause and reflect on what has been a standout year for our research community, one that really brings our mission of making research happen for everyone to life.

Over the past year, we’ve seen research translate into real, meaningful improvements in care. From amplifying the voices of young fathers in prison through the Fathers Together podcast, to creating sexual health films and clinical tools that improve partner notification after STI diagnoses, this work shows research at its best, rooted in real experiences and strengthening care pathways where it matters most.

Mental health has remained a key focus too. Insightful conversations on suicide prevention with Professor Alexandra Pitman have deepened understanding and informed practice, while emerging evidence showing that antidepressants can ease core depressive symptoms earlier has helped give clinicians and patients clearer footing when making decisions. Research doing exactly what it should, shedding light, not adding confusion.

The Research Ambassadors scheme, launched at the tail end of last year, has gone from strength to strength. This month we celebrated the graduation of our first cohort (certificates, pride, and well-earned applause included), and the scheme is now expanding across more trusts, giving even more staff the chance to champion research and share its benefits.

This year has also brought change. We’ve said fond farewells to colleagues heading off to further study or into well-earned retirement (no alarms, no Teams meetings, lucky them), while warmly welcoming many new faces to Noclor. In West London especially, an exciting new team is coming together, and it’s been a joy to see it take shape.

Looking ahead, I’m excited about the year to come and the initiatives we’re ready to get started on. I’m confident we’ll continue to be inspired by the commitment of our researchers, staff, and patients, each playing their part in making a real difference.

Wishing you a joyful Christmas, a restful break (where possible), and a bright start to the new year.”
