Colleagues from Kershaw Ward and Kensington & Chelsea CMHT teams shared their nursing journeys and reflected on their career today.

Maria O’Brien, CNWL Chief Nurse, and Kim Cox, Director of Nursing for mental health services took part in a Q&A.

Haroun Kamara, Ward Manager for Gerrard Ward, Gordon Hospital interviewed them both.

Kim said her life would be very different, if she chose not to pursue a nursing career.

Kim said: “I would have probably ended up behind an Estee Lauder makeup counter! I also enjoy, cooking, baking so might eventually done something in this area.”

Maria said she has had many highlights throughout her nursing career.

Maria said: “It’s hard to pinpoint as I’ve had so many highlights over the years, professionally and personally. Of course being appointed to Chief Nurse at this Trust is something I am proud of. It was also very pinnacle for me when I began my first Ward Manager/Sister role.”

The show closed with a special music appearance from the Ukulele Group who were described as ‘a true example of people coming together and bringing joy!’

The group will be back and any staff looking to join should get in touch.
