As the financial year comes to a close, staff across CNWL have been given the opportunity to help shape the future of services by sharing their ideas to enhance patient care, improve how services operate and strengthen the experience of people using our services.

Pitch Perfect is an innovation programme that invites teams to put forward practical ideas for improving care and ways of working. Staff pitch their ideas by outlining the problem they have identified, their proposed solution and how it could make a difference to patients, service users and colleagues.

The response has been incredible. More than 150 proposals were submitted by staff from across the Trust, demonstrating the creativity, insight and commitment of colleagues working across our services.

After careful consideration by a panel, we are delighted to announce the first nine projects that will now move forward:

  • Improving access to point of care ultrasound (POCUS) in Camden Hospital at Home
  • High risk patients support tool to bring identification of high complexity mental health patients in-house
  • Point of Care HbA1c device and testing system for Camden Community Diabetes Service
  • Park Royal Café (vocational reablement for service users)
  • Mile Ahead! Wheelchair service use of e-bikes
  • rTMS neuromodulation project for treatment-resistant mood disorders
  • Intervention for young people with psychosis and cannabis use
  • Communicating when cure isn’t likely: DNACPR and decision making with teens, young adults and families
  • SPACE: supportive parenting for anxious childhood emotions

Thank you to everyone who submitted a Pitch Perfect proposal. The quality and range of ideas made the selection process incredibly difficult.

Many of the proposals highlighted exciting opportunities to further improve our services, and divisional teams will continue to follow up with colleagues who entered the competition to explore how their ideas could be developed further.

The response to Pitch Perfect has shown just how passionate our staff are about improving the way we work and the care we provide. As we move into the next financial year, this creativity and commitment will continue to play a vital role in shaping the future of our services and delivering the best possible care for our patients and communities.
