The fourth annual Mayor of London Adult Learning Awards took place on Thursday 13 November at City Hall. Where CNWL’s Volunteer to Career (VtC)  programme was highly commended.

The Volunteer to Career Service (pictured below) was recognised under the Outreach and Engagement of Adults into Learning award for its outstanding commitment to supporting Londoners into adult learning opportunities, helping them gain the skills they need for life, work, and progression into good work.

The service recently celebrated its third birthday - What started as a small project with a big ambition has now supported 100 volunteers to take real steps toward NHS careers — and in just three years, 71 of them are now employed, with many more in training or education.

The Mayor of London Adult Learning Awards bring together London’s skills sector, to celebrate the inspirational stories of learners, employers, community organisations, colleges and providers, and their teaching and non-teaching staff.

The event raises awareness of the fantastic adult learning happening in London and supports the ambitions of the London Growth Plan - building an inclusive, employer-led skills system where Londoners, businesses and the economy can get the skills they need to thrive.

"Being recognised and highly commended for outreach and engagement of adults into learning feels like one of those magical days you want to fold up and keep in your pocket forever. I feel so lucky to be leading this programme—especially with my amazing manager, Nuria De Miguel, beside me, our wonderful volunteers filling every moment with heart, and the supervisors who champion them and create such caring spaces for them to grow." Said Volunteer to Career Lead Ania Adams.
