We are proud to announce that Colleen Simon joins the Trust in April as our new Head of Social Work and Safeguarding.
This post is a partnership appointment, with Colleen working with Brunel University social work department part of the week. The intention is to grow collaboration between Brunel and CNWL, in training and research and in professional development opportunities.
In addition Colleen will support the partnership arrangements we have with local authorities, as well as leading the safeguarding teams across CNWL
Dr Ryan Kemp, Director of Therapies said: “I’m really happy Colleen is joining us; so pleased we have found an experienced and innovative Social Work leader to join our team. Social Work is valued here as it brings so much to the NHS.”
Catherine Knights, CNWL Director of Quality added: “Colleen brings an inspiring vision for her new role covering social work, social care and safeguarding adults and her passion for person-centred care, strength-based approaches and anti-discriminatory practice will further embed our Integrated Safeguarding Strategy and support the delivery of high quality care.”
Dr Alison Cocks, Divisional lead for Social Work at Brunel University said:” The Social Work team at Brunel University, London are delighted to be welcoming Colleen and are very much looking forward to the adventures which lie ahead in our collaboration with CNWL!”
Colleen said: “Having worked in partnership with CNWL for many years, across Addiction and Mental Health services, I am very excited to join the Trust and inject my enthusiasm for all things Social Work.
“I plan to build and strengthen our existing health, social care and education partnerships and support the care, treatment and protection for the vulnerable in our communities.”
Colleen qualified in Social Work in 2003, her specialisms are mental health and substance use, qualifying as an Approved Mental Health Professional and Best Interest Assessor, she recently completed her Masters.
Colleen has been involved in social work education, as a practice educator, trainer and lecturer and is passionate about anti-discriminatory practice and advocating for minority communities.
She is an avid netball player and umpire who enjoys travel, music, theatre and singing.
