Beatrice Place staff and residents were treated to a musical afternoon with two West End actors: Connor Jones and Kody Mortimer. Connor is currently a cast member of Les Miserables at Sondheim Theatre, and Kody will be joining the cast of HEX at the National Theatre later this month.

The concert was organised as a thank you to the Beatrice community for their ongoing hard work throughout the pandemic, and to acknowledge the losses experienced during the past 18 months. We are extremely grateful to CNWL’s Charitable Fund for supporting this initiative.

After the concert, Connor said:

“It really was wonderful to visit Beatrice Place and hear the staff sing and relax into the afternoon. In a few numbers a dance party would break out, which was brilliant. The residents also looked to be really enjoying the concert, responding to the music and singing. It was wonderful to see the staff treating the residents with such dignity, care and love. We would be honoured to revisit Beatrice Place and work with you again.”

The song list for the concert was jointly organised by Music Therapist, Orii McDermott, alongside Connor and Kody. Many residents were observed to be enjoying the music and dancing with staff members. Orii dedicated the song Good Job by Alicia Keys to her team members, as the song reminds her of colleagues working in Beatrice Place. Listen to the song on YouTube here.

Matron, Gillian Buckley, said: “I had an enjoyable time listening, singing and dancing to the fantastic and talented musicians.”

Staff member, Stavroula Siosiou, said: “Thank you so much for arranging such an amazing and uplifting event for us and our residents. We all enjoyed the music and the song dedicated to us was lovely. It made me feel very proud for the job we are all doing in these difficult times.”
