Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust (CNWL) is pleased to share several important updates to our digital leadership team - reflecting our continued commitment to innovation, modernisation and high‑quality digital services across the Trust.
Doug Stewart appointed Chief Digital and Information Officer
Doug Stewart will take up the role of Chief Digital and Information Officer (CDIO), leading the delivery of the Trust’s Digital Strategy, major programmes, and supporting infrastructure and services. Doug has already played a pivotal role in shaping CNWL’s digital direction, including the development of SystmOne our clinical system, and driving the deployment of AI and ambient voice technologies across the Trust. This new position strengthens our ambition to deliver seamless, user‑centred digital experiences for staff and patients.
Jon Burwell becomes our Director of Digital Technology and Infrastructure (CIO)
We are delighted to welcome Jon Burwell as CNWL’s Director of Digital Technology and Infrastructure. Jon joins us from Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust and Great Western Hospitals NHS FT and brings extensive experience in technology leadership and service improvement. He will oversee the operational delivery of ICT services, infrastructure, and support. His appointment marks an exciting step forward as we continue to further modernise our digital systems, processes and capability.
Celebrating Owen Powell’s retirement
After a decade of dedicated service, Owen Powell will be retiring from CNWL at the end of March. Owen has been instrumental in developing and stabilising our ICT services, guiding teams through significant periods of change and championing a culture of collaboration and professionalism. We wish Owen the very best in his retirement and will be bringing colleagues together to say farewell closer to the time.
Chief Digital and Strategy Officer, Ross Graves said:
“These changes strengthen our digital leadership at a time when technology plays an increasingly vital role in how we deliver care. Please join us in congratulating Doug and Jon on their new roles, and in celebrating Owen’s remarkable contribution to the Trust”.
“On behalf of the entire Trust, I extend our heartfelt thanks for Owen’s commitment and leadership and we wish him every happiness in his retirement where I’m sure he will be enjoying more cricket, rugby league and music, as well as hitting the Zwift bike!”
