Samantha Sargent, Community Paediatric Dietitian at CNWL has published a book for children and parents called ‘The Fussy Eater’s Guide to Exploring Food: A book for children.
Written by experts, Alison Butterworth, Occupational Therapist, Samantha Sargent, and Kay Toomey, Paediatric Psychologist this step by step guide is adapted from the SOS (Sequential Oral Sensory) approach to feeding. By learning to be a food scientist, children discover the properties of different foods and eventually feel ready to taste and eat them.
Dr Rachel Bryant-Waugh, Consultant Clinical Psychologist who also wrote the Foreword said:
‘This gem of a book is based on sound principles of good parenting and human learning. Through its adoption of the food scientist approach, the book clearly sets out how to provide the fun, safe, containing structure needed to enable cautious children to test out new food experiences.’
