Mark Sellars joined the Trust on the 3 April as a Deputy Head of Urgent Care and will be working alongside Selena Cox and John Ryan – also Deputy Heads of Urgent Care. Together they take oversee a range of urgent care services including Stepdown, Single Point of Access (SPA) and Integrated Discharge Team (IDT) amongst others.
Mark said: “I’ve always felt a great sense of reward working with patients and services within the urgent care pathway and I’m excited to meet new people and make a difference to the care patients receive as they journey through their recovery.”
Mark’s previously covered a range of roles and services across the NHS. Starting out as a Staff Nurse on a rehabilitation ward 20 years ago in Camden and Islington NHS Trust. He then worked as a Charge Nurse on the Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit for ten years. Before moving on, to be a Ward Manager for a further five years on an Acute Mental Health and Learning Disability Ward. In 2019 Mark became a Matron. In this role, he led on and developed a new out-of-hours Senior Site Coordinator Service to support inpatient settings both clinically and operationally across the acute care pathway.
In 2020, with the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, Mark took over as Service Lead for Camden and Islington’s Bed Management, Integrated Discharge and Senior Site Coordination Teams. Mark has now moved from this position to join CNWL’s Jameson Division where he will be responsible for the development of the Integrated Discharge Team (IDT), taking over from Deirdre Dolan, who is leaving the trust in May. The Integrated Discharge Team will bring together the Community Access Team, Step Down Service and Discharge Coordinators under one umbrella to support discharges through the urgent care pathway.
Mark said, “I’ hope to continue the development of the IDT service and be approachable, present and compassionate when working with all CNWL staff and patients to enhance their experiences within the Urgent Care Pathway”.
In his spare time Mark enjoys travelling, socialising with family and friends as well as cycling and being active.
Welcome Mark!
