Milton Keynes Neurological Rehabilitation Service provides rehabilitation for people with neurological conditions.

The service aims to help people live as independently as possible in their home, work, social and community lives, helping them to understand, adjust to and manage their condition. The service also offers support to the individual's family and carers.

Services are provided by a multidisciplinary team of NHS professionals including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, psychologists and Rehabilitation Assistants.

Before treatment begins, the team provides an opportunity for the individual to consider their needs with a member of staff and together to plan goals to meet their potential to achieve practical daily living skills. The team provides a time-limited course of therapy sessions to meet these goals through outpatient appointments or, when needed, in the person's home or community setting.

The service is for anyone aged 18 or over who is registered with a Milton Keynes general practitioner (GP) and would benefit from a specialist programme of active rehabilitation, treatment and carer support to enable them to live as independently as possible in their day-to-day life.

Referrals come from your Neurological Clinical Specialist, the Early Stroke Rehabilitation Team, your GP or consultant.

The service is available from 8.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays).

  • Contact the CNWL service looking after you during their office hours
  • If the crisis is during when your service is closed, there are alternative options provided by the NHS found on this page.
  • If you are not already being looked after by CNWL or elsewhere within the NHS, see your GP during normal working hours as they can then refer you to a local service.
