The Children’s Integrated Therapy Service (CITS) operates an open referral system, which means that anyone can refer a child/young person to any of the therapy services.

If you are concerned about the development of a child or you have a query about how to make a referral you can call the advice line on 01895 488 200 or email: citsadmin.cnwl@nhs.net

It is recommended that parents and carers first call the advice line on 01895 488 200 to get advice from a therapist and help decide the next steps.

It is also recommended that school staff get advice from their link therapist first or call the advice line.

If you are a professional and are unsure if a child is appropriate for referral then please call the advice line to get advice from a therapist.

Please note, our service does not provide home equipment (seating, bathing etc.) for children or young people above three years old. These children should be referred directly to social care. Please contact: 01895 556633 or email: socialcaredirect@hillingdon.gov.uk.

Referral criteria

We accept referrals for children and young people who live in Hillingdon and/or are registered with a General Practitioner (GP) in the London borough of Hillingdon.

Referrals are only accepted with parental consent.

If you're concerned about a child's language and/or communication development, you can use the development tool to see if a referral is needed.

You can also visit Talking Point which can help you to decide if your child might need speech and language therapy.

If your child is attending a mainstream school and you're concerned about a child's language and/or communication development please get in contact with your child’s school to access Language Link.

We accept referrals for:

  • Children who present with musculoskeletal (MSK) problems up to five years of age. Please note if the child is over 5 years old with a MSK problem they will need to be referred to the Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy service through their GP
  • Babies and young children with developmental delay in their gross motor skills. You can check if a referral is indicated using the Physiotherapy Development Tool.

For typical variants of lower limb development please read this information document to make sure the referral is appropriate.

There is one referral form that can be used to refer to one or more of the therapy services at the same time. You will be sent an acknowledgement that the referral has been received within two days.

We aim to make contact within six weeks of referral, either through telephone or a face-to-face appointment. An interpreter can also be provided. Please let us know if you would like to arrange this.

Referrals can be sent to: citsreferrals.cnwl@nhs.net

Or posted to:
