An Arts in Health Brunel Partnership Event has been held to celebrate a progressive interdisciplinary platform for research and practice development.

Liliana and Dominik.jpgThis interdisciplinary area within the partnership has been sponsored by Claire Grant, Ryan Kemp and Sara Pountney and designed by Dominik Havsteen-Franklin to enable high standards of research, education and teaching.

Our first partnership programme is being led by Brunel academic and art therapist, Liliana Montoya De La Cruz, who has led with supporting the development of partnership relationships and course content for our partnership MA in Art Psychotherapy.

Next year you will see dramatherapy, arts therapies apprenticeships, an integrated PhD programme and much more.

These new programmes will support a research pathway and progress clinical standards for arts therapists and develop the roles and recognition of arts-based practitioners. Given that the partnership has already provided so many opportunities for CNWL staff, researchers and most importantly the communities that we serve, we are ambitious about what can be realised.

Ryan Kemp.jpgDr Ryan Kemp, CNWL’s Director of Therapies, said: “We had a great launch day and everyone is feeling hopeful. Students are already expressing an interest and we expect the first year to fully subscribed.

“Getting to this point has been several years of hard work and I want to thank Brunel and in particular Prof Tom Betteridge, College Dean and Merettta Elliot, Head of Arts and Humanities for working with us over several years. The new MA will produce NHS ready arts psychotherapists who can look forward to an exciting career across many specialities.”Tom Betteridge.jpg
