CNWL's Brent Memory services supported World Alzheimer’s Month 2023 campaign theme of ‘Never too early, never too late’ by organising a dementia awareness day. The event took place on 21 September 2023 at The Wembley Friendship Centre. It was attended by residents who use dementia support services, their families and carers.
The event was opened with a welcome speech from The Mayor of Brent, Councellor Orleen Hylton. This was followed by brief introduction of various partners in attendance, by CNWL’s Jenny Lanyero. CNWL’s Dr Abhishek Shastri, Consultant Psychiatrist from Brent Memory Services, talked about what Brent Memory Service does and ran a Question and Answer session with attendees. There were self-care activities, talks from partners such as Community Action for Dementia, Arts 4 Dementia, wheelchair Bollywood dance by Muskaan group, followed by closing remarks from the Mayor of Brent.
The event was organised by CNWL's Brent Memory Services in partnership with Brent Health Matters and Community Action on Dementia Brent.
