On Wednesday, 27 May, staff and patients on Nile Ward at St Charles Hospital held an Eid Celebration in the Nile Ward garden
The ward is a psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU) that provides mental health care and treatment for people whose acute distress, absconding risk, and suicidal or challenging behaviour needs a secure environment beyond that which can normally be provided on an open psychiatric ward.
The Eid Celebration was part of their Quality Improvement Project in reducing violence and aggression on the ward, which spans physical fitness, lifestyle changes, daily gardening and Ragging for risk assessments in reducing violence.
In the morning Dr Mehtab Rahman (Consultant Psychiatrist) was interviewed on the BBC Radio London Breakfast Show to talk about their QI Violence Reduction work and their Eid celebration.
Claudia Taylor Clinical Team Leader said: “It was a fantastic day for patients and staff alike and great opportunity to celebrate diversity and tolerance within our ward.”
