On Friday 25 November 2022, participants of the CNWL Arts in Health service went to Tate Britain in Pimlico to see artist Hew Locke's impressive large-scale installation 'The Procession'

The main atrium space at Tate Britain was filled with a huge number of detailed, life-sized characters travelling through time and carrying historical and cultural baggage. Hew Locke's work invited us to ‘reflect on the cycles of history, and the ebb and flow of cultures, people and finance and power.’

Those who attended commented on the characters' expressions, the vibrant nature of the textiles used, and the historical, social and political references they could spot in their costumes. With so much detail to take in, it really was a very thought-provoking and immersive experience.
