Acting Manager and Clinical Lead at CNWL’s Kershaw Ward, Rashidat Okunlola-Samuel, has been named as a winner of this year’s Royal College of Nursing (RCN) Rising Star Awards. Rashidat is part of the team at St Charles Hospital.

The awards recognise nurses and healthcare support workers from London’s Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) nursing community who have made an outstanding contribution to the health and care system.

This year’s winners were recognised for being nursing pioneers and innovators, and the awards are part of RCN London’s celebrations to mark Black History Month 2023.

Rashidat, who worked in banking before re-training as a nurse, said:

“I was absolutely shocked when I found out I won the award. I became a nurse because I am passionate about making a real difference to people’s lives. To be acknowledged by my colleagues is heart-warming and I am very lucky to work with an exceptionally generous and supportive team.”

Congratulations to Rashidat!
