Diabetes Awareness Week (13 to 19 June 2022) is a time to celebrate everyone with diabetes and everyone who’s there to support them along the way.
Diabetes is a lifelong condition that causes a person's blood sugar level to become too high. There are two main types of diabetes: Type 1 diabetes – where the body's immune system attacks and destroys the cells that produce insulin and Type 2 diabetes – where the body does not produce enough insulin, or the body's cells do not react to insulin.
CNWL has two diabetes services in Camden and Hillingdon, who support people in the community to manage their diabetes as well as supporting community and primary care teams.
