Eating Disorders Awareness Week (28 February to 6 March) continues, and the North London Eating Disorder Provider Collaborative, led by CNWL – is encouraging more staff to consider working in this rewarding field.
This year’s theme focuses on ensuring there is adequate training on eating disorders available to health professionals. We have recently revamped our training offer for Band 5 nursing staff working on our wards, and we will be advertising a number of exciting posts shortly.
The collaborative is also working with providers across North London to try and improve training offers for staff. We currently hold a range of information for healthcare and other professionals, as well as support for carers, families and friends supporting children and young people with eating disorders:
Frances Connan (Clinical Director for CAMHS and Eating Disorders, CNWL) and Ashton Dublin (Team Manager, BEH Eating Disorder Services) say:
“Eating disorders is a complex but rewarding field to work in and we need our best staff to come and join our team. You will be supported with the very best training and support, and we will invest in you to grow and develop a career. Keep an eye out for our posts as they go live in coming weeks, and take a look at our websites for a flavour of who we are and what we do.”
For non-clinicians, the Eating Disorders Provider Collaborative has an opportunity to join the team as a Project Officer Intern. The role will provide administration and coordination support to managers and clinicians, and will provide you with the training and skills needed to kick start a career in the NHS.
We are particularly encouraging applications from people who have experienced a mental health inpatient placement (either in eating disorders or another setting). For more information and to apply, visit this page.
