Staff on Harrow’s Ellington Ward at the Mental Health Centre at Northwick Park Hospital became the latest in CNWL to experience the going live of our new electronic prescribing system.
The ward went live yesterday (Wednesday 13 October) at 12pm with Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA).
The Trustwide project will replace the current paper-based process for prescribing and administering medications. The aim is to improve patient care and safety by reducing prescribing, dispensing, administration and transcription errors. 
This is in line with making sure we continue to lead on technical innovations to support the care of patients.
We are doing this because experience from early adopters of electronic prescribing elsewhere in the NHS has shown that it improves patient safety and increases staff time to care.
