CNWL’s Professor Henrietta Bowden-Jones OBE spoke at The Royal College of Psychiatrist's President’s Prestigious Lecture last week.

At the event, Prof Bowden-Jones discussed Breaking Free: How to Stop Gambling – a new self-help book that she contributed to, and which acts as a guide for those who know or think they might have a problem with gambling.

Estimates suggest that about one percent of the UK population suffers from a severe gambling addiction, with some two million more at risk of developing worsening problems. This new workbook uses a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy-approach to help readers take control of their addiction, as well as offering advice to the family and friends of those with gambling issues.

Professor Bowden-Jones also spoke about the work of the Gambling Related Harm All Parliamentary Group and how gambling addiction might be more effectively tackled in the future.
