The CAMHS Inpatient Team from the Crystal House Unit at the Kingswood Centre in Brent held an away day on the 10 February 2023, to improve and develop into a strong team with a shared sense of purpose and ultimately, to provide children who use our service with high quality, safe and compassionate care.

It was an opportunity for the team to bond, learn new things and appreciate the diverse strengths and talents within the team.

Georgina Parkes, who recently joined Crystal House as Consultant Psychiatrist presented Psychodynamics in Learning Disabilities.

Erin Kiernan talked about creating a total communications environment.

Justin Bonshor, Clinical Educator for Mental Health and Safety led a session on Psychological Safety & Human Factors.

Joseph George, Activity Coordinator, challenged the team to build an object with newspaper, it was tested with two bottles of water and body weight.

Finally, it was time to shake, shimmy and showcase the team's dance moves. The team brought the house down with a fun filled Strictly Come Salsa led by Carol Jaffier, Dance Therapist.

The day was a hit with staff, read their feedback below:

"Huge thank you to Gloria, Sharla and co. for organising a Crystal House away day. I really enjoyed the day – a good balance of learning and fun team activities in a lovely setting.”

“Thank you Joe for the quiz and the stool construction activity, didn’t think I could have that much fun with newspapers.”

“Carol!! Ole! Thank you for the salsa class, it was such a giggle.”
