We’re pleased to announce that Kingsley Akuffo is to be the new Borough Director in Brent for the next 12 months as Philippa Galligan goes on leave.

Ann Sheridan, the Managing Director for the area, said, “Kingsley is a familiar face to many staff because he has done so much here and does everything so well. He will be a great Borough Director and lead our mental health services in Brent, with his very engaging and inspiring style.”

Kingsley trained as a nurse in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland.

He joined CNWL in 1998, as a staff nurse, and worked up to being clinical services manager and a modern matron.

In 2018, he was the Inpatient Service Manager in Milton Keynes, becoming the Deputy Head of Urgent Care, Trustwide and the Interim Assistant Borough Director, Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster Urgent Care.

Since October 2021, he has been on secondment as Associate General Manager, Integrated Medicine, London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust, as part of the North West London ICS Leadership Ladder Programme.

“I am delighted to be joining Brent Mental Health Services as the Borough Director and look forward to meeting staff to hear about their hopes and aspirations. Brent is a service with a great reputation and a clear ambition to make a real difference for its people, patients, and communities through valuing diversity and developing an environment for all to thrive.  I hope to shine light on the excellent work that they do; patient and carers groups, partners and volunteers, which I am looking forward to. I am a big advocate for inclusive leadership - considering different perspectives to inform better decision-making.”

Kingsley is married with three children, all in University; and he enjoys reading and spending time with the family.
