Hana Isphani (pictured below) is one of CNWL’s new PsychStart students working in mental health rehabilitation.
PsychStart is aimed at medical students who are interested in psychiatry or want to learn more about the specialty; Hana is a first year medical student at Imperial, and is enthusiastically organising a psychiatry conference on Saturday 6 March.
Hana says, “The event will be interspersed with a variety of interesting talks and interactive workshops, including a talk about Covid-19 and its Impact on Mental Health delivered by the renowned Professor Sir Simon Wessely, former President of both the Royal Society of Psychiatrists and Medicine. We are delighted to welcome a number of other guest speakers who will each be discussing an aspect of their work, including CBT, Anxiety, Art Therapy and Forensic Psychiatry.
“The day aims to inform Medical Students about this unique and varied specialty and to raise awareness at a time where mental health is becoming increasingly relevant. There is also a chance to participate in an art competition on the theme of Lockdown: One Year On.
“All proceeds raised through tickets will be going to the Listening Place, a charity which provides a warm and safe space for people to talk when they're at a crisis point in their lives.
Dr Nathan Rousse is one of the speakers on Anxiety Demystified.
Dr Rousse is a psychiatric trainee in CNWL Learning Disability Services and has been set on psychiatry since before Medical School. Since graduating from Imperial College School of Medicine, he has taken his time getting around to starting training and has worked in multiple mental health trusts across London before settling into the St Mary's Training Scheme. Currently working in the Psychiatry of Learning Disability, his completion of membership examinations has happily left him able to spend more time exploring his personal interests in psychiatry and his favourite hobby of walks in his local area.
