Free, confidential service will give people under 25 access to sexual health screening, contraception, pregnancy testing and wellbeing support.

A new provider partnership will deliver sexual health services for young people in Camden and Islington. Launched on 1 July, the new provision gives people under 25 free access to a range of sexual health services, including contraception, STI testing and treatment, pregnancy testing and advice, as well as counselling and wellbeing support.

The new service is being delivered by the Camden and Islington Sexual Health network (CAMISH). CAMISH is a partnership between sexual health and wellbeing charity Brook, and Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust (CNWL). Young people can access the provision at Brook’s Euston clinic on Chalton Street, CNWL’s Archway Centre on Holloway Road and through outreach at various locations across the two boroughs.

Brook has almost 60 years’ experience delivering sexual health services for young people, and has been part of the CAMISH network since 2015. CNWL have extensive experience in the sexual health sector, providing sexual health services in London and throughout Surrey.

Liz Ryley, Assistant Director of Clinical Operations at Brook, said: “It is so important that young people have access to free, confidential sexual and reproductive health services. We believe that by providing young people with things such as contraception and STI testing and treatment, we are also giving them the skills and confidence to successfully manage their own sexual health and wellbeing.

“We’re really proud to have been delivering young people’s sexual health services in Camden and Islington for over 7 years. We’re delighted to welcome CNWL to the CAMISH network, with their excellent track record of improving health outcomes for communities in London and throughout Surrey. Working together we hope that even more young people in Camden and Islington will benefit from our holistic, non-judgemental approach to sexual health and wellbeing”

Mark Maguire, Sexual Health Director at CNWL said: “We’re delighted to be working with Brook to offer young people in Camden and Islington regular sexual health check-ups, testing, treatment and contraception.

“Our services are free and confidential to all and our staff are here to help with any worries you may be having about your sexual health. Walk-in to the Archway Centre from 1 July. Soon we’ll be offering outreach services in community venues.

Cllr Anna Wright, Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing and Adult Social Care in Camden said: “I am delighted to see the launch of this service from CAMISH, which will help young people in Camden access high quality sexual health services that meet their needs and support their wellbeing.”

Cllr Nurullah Turan, Executive Member for Health and Social Care in Islington said: “It is so important that young people across Islington are able to access best quality services to protect and promote their sexual health and wellbeing. I am very happy to see the new CAMISH service launch today”.
