Palliative Discovery is an online learning platform tailored specifically to the educational, wellbeing and career needs of palliative care nurses.

CNWL has worked in partnership with St Christopher’s Hospice, University College Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the National Nurse Consultant Group in Palliative Care to develop this platform, and thanks to funding from the Burdett Trust, nurses can initially sign up for free.

Palliative Discovery aims to give Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNSs) working in palliative care settings a place where they can grow their expertise, share effective methods, connect with colleagues, develop their leadership skills and build resilience.

There are three types of learning offers, all delivered live online and then available to download and watch later:

  • Roundtable events, which provide an opportunity for in-depth assessment and consideration of complex end-of-life and palliative care topics
  • Webinars, videos and podcasts
  • Workshops to help CNSs build a sustainable and healthy career

As well as being a place to access formal learning materials, Palliative Discovery will serve as a hub offering access to expert supervision, coaching and career advice.

CNWL's Maggie Bissett, Nurse Consultant, and lead for this project says:

“Working together, we believe we can make Palliative Discovery a vehicle for remodelling the role of the palliative care CNS, raising their profile, and boosting resilience.”

We invite you to join Palliative Discovery now and encourage colleagues to get involved.
