CNWL’s Bladder and Bowel Nurse Consultant, Jane Young, has contributed to a research paper for The British Journal of Neuroscience Nursing.

Developed by a group of health professionals, the research paper outlines the updated clinical guidance for bladder management pathways in multiple sclerosis (MS). It also includes a range of resources to help implement the new pathway.

Read the paper here, which was published in July 2022.

The research paper concludes: “Taking a proactive, rather than reactive, approach to management can provide significant benefits, not only for people with MS, but for the NHS. It is important for nurses to ensure these sensitive issues are discussed with their patients to improve their quality of life. The group hopes that all healthcare professionals working with people who have MS are ‘bladder aware’.”

This follows the publication of an article discussing the impact and management of bladder and bowel dysfunction in multiple sclerosis, also co-authored by Jane. You can read this here.
