After being in a coma due to Covid, the poet and children’s author Michael Rosen was transferred to CNWL’s St Pancras Rehabilitation Unit (SPRU), where the multidisciplinary team helped him regain his mobility and learn to walk again.
Following his recovery, he wrote two books based on his experiences: Many Different Kinds of Love, which describes the care he received and everything that happened to him, and Sticky McStickstick for children, which outlines his rehab journey and illustrates how he learnt to walk again.
Michael spoke to Frontline magazine (Chartered Society of Physiotherapy) about his recovery, the rehab he received and the immense admiration he feels for all the physios and other healthcare professionals who helped him get back on his feet.
Emma Roussel (Senior Physiotherapist) and Ashima Sharma (Senior Occupational Therapist), part of the rehabilitation team at SPRU, also spoke with Frontline about helping Michael recover.
Michael has also recorded a video message which you can watch here
