Buckinghamshire Priority Dental Service (BPDS) aims to provide an assessment and treatment service for those adults and children who would not or could not, by virtue of their additional needs, access dentistry in General Dental Practice.

Buckinghamshire Priority Dental Service (BPDS) clinics are accessible to disabled patients. However, patients needing a ground floor surgery should first try to obtain care with a General Dental Practitioner (GDP) and only be referred to BPDS if there is no ground floor access within a reasonable distance. Some clinics also have hoists for those who need help transferring to the dental chair.

The service is available  for people living in the Hertfordshire & South Midlands and Thames Valley catchment areas who fit within the criteria listed below:

  • Adults and children with learning disabilities
  • Adults and children with complex unstable medical problems
  • Adults and children with severe diagnosed mental health problems
  • Children with severe anxiety and behavioural management problems
  • Adults with very severe anxiety and dental phobias (Not in Milton Keynes)

Please note, you cannot refer yourself into our service. Also we do not offer a general anaesthetic for the extraction of sound teeth for orthodontic reasons.

The service accepts referrals from dental professionals, General Practitioners (GPs), and health or other social care workers.
