The Harrow Memory Service is now accredited by the Royal College of Psychiatry’s Memory Services National Accreditation Program (MSNAP), further recognising the quality of the service it offers people with cognitive impairment/dementia, their carers and the local community in Harrow.
Harrow is the only CNWL service in London with MSNAP accreditation at present, though Brent and KCW Memory Services have been awarded accreditation in the past. Milton Keynes Memory Service also has MSNAP accreditation.
Harrow Memory Service managed to pursue accreditation despite the challenges of COVID, and were peer reviewed (remotely) by memory service staff and service users from other parts of the UK. Local service users, carers, GPs and partner organisations were also invited to give feedback.
MSNAP commended the team for a well-run and cohesive service that goes above and beyond expectation. They were also impressed with the QI ethos of the service.
Moving forward, the team were given advice on further innovation, including remote Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (e-CST), and they look forward to the challenge ahead.
