Designers Harry Wells and Jen Cogley with input from renowned British Fashion Designer Sir Paul Smith have completed a decorative redesign of Caspian Ward at Park Royal Mental Health Centre.

Before going freelance, Harry Wells was part of Sir Paul Smith’s interior design team and project lead on the Ganges Ward Scheme, which Paul Smith designed.

For this project Harry collaborated with his partner Jen Cogley, and Sir Paul Smith consulted the pair on the colour scheme.

All the paint used to make this project happen was generously donated by Dulux for free.

CNWL’s Head of Patient Environment Dr Nick Rhodes, oversees art and design initiatives around the Trust to make CNWL’s sites more welcoming and uplifting. He collaborates with artists and designers, and consults with staff and patients to see what they want their ward or service to look like.

Commenting on the redesign of Caspian ward, Dr Nick Rhodes said, “In CNWL we have great interiors, pairing that with a well-designed combination of colours so the whole thing sings has an amazing uplifting effect. I can’t tell you just how much patients tell me they love a bit of colour.”

Recently, Ellington Ward and The Grenfell and Wellbeing service at St Charles Hospital received funding to make their interior more welcoming and uplifting through the charity fund the Nightingale Project. This fund works with CNWL to raise money to brighten up the environment in mental health services through art and music. More information can be found here: The Nightingale Project
