During the Covid-19 emergency response, CNWL set up a First Responders programme.

This programme enables staff to volunteer to join the response to any future spikes in Covid-19 demand. During the first peak of Covid-19, the Trust increased capacity in some of our core services staff responding directly to the outbreak including rapid response, palliative care and district nursing.

Anyone can be a First Responder, the programme has already identified 150 people to support those critical Covid-19 teams including people with a variety of skills from a range of backgrounds.

This led CNWL to establish a team of staff who, if there was a second wave, are prepared to be redeployed at short notice.
