CNWL was one of 20 Trusts approached by the Observer about a ‘tracking code’ that shared some browsing history from our main website with Facebook.

Our statement to The Observer said:

“We added tracking code to a recruitment page in September 2022 to help monitor the impact of an advertising campaign on social media. We did not ask for the code to be added to any other pages of the website and we were unaware that it had been placed on other pages. It has now been removed from all pages including the recruitment page. Privacy of individuals is a very serious matter and will avoid use of meta codes in future.”

No patient data was shared.

It is normal practice for these events to be investigated, to confirm the steps taken will prevent it occurring in future.
