Congratulations to Attia Bibi, who was presented with a hidden gem award by Sara Pountney, Mental Health Rehabilitation Service Director.

Attia, who works Trustwide across ten inpatient rehabilitation units, is responsible for identifying and supporting patients with paid work opportunities, voluntary roles or educational courses.

She was nominated by a fellow colleague who said:

“It is her efficient approach to work, flexibility and effort to make her views and plans known to the multidisciplinary team which has made her an integral part of all the inpatient teams.  It is complementary that all the teams she works with do value her, know her, appreciate her work however may not have not seen her! Every service user who has had an opportunity to have face-to-face contact with her knows her well, appreciate her efforts and keen to meet her. She instils hope in the service users.”

Since starting the role in 2014, Attia has been described by her manager as ‘an individual who has achieved amazing outcomes’.

Geraldine Vacher said: “Attia fully deserves recognition as a hidden gem as she continually goes that extra mile to deliver an excellent service ensuring the individuals she works with can achieve their ambitions and meet their full potential.”

Attia was very surprised to win the award, describing how it feels to win she said:

“I feel very honoured and humbled to have been nominated for the Hidden Gem award, let alone to have won it. I work alongside some great clinical teams within Mental Health Rehabilitation, who all work in person centred and recovery focused manner. For my work to be recognised and celebrated in this way, makes me more determined to these support service users to achieve their goals and to further promote hope and recovery across the inpatient units.”
