LGBT+ History Month is an annual commemoration of queer culture, a time to hold in mind and celebrate the memory of those who have fought oppression and enabled positive change.
Pride@CNWL is the Trust’s LGBT+ staff network and every year they put on a series of events to celebrate, educate and empower staff and patients from the LGBT+ community and allies.
On the events CNWL are having this year, Shamal Waraich, CNWL’s Pride@CNWL Staff Network Diversity Lead and Senior Peer Support Worker in the Trust’s Sexual Health Service, said
“We want to encourage equality, inclusivity and diversity across the Trust which includes coming up with initiatives that help staff and patients feel recognised and supported, regardless of their identity.”
Events happening this month at CNWL connect with the theme ‘Mind, Body and Spirit’, plus Pride@CNWL will be co-hosting two One Community Radio shows to celebrate LGBT+ History Month.
See CNWL’s LGBT+ History Month programme below and join in when you can.

'Inhabiting the queer body' - **Voguing workshop**
As we enter the 40th year since the AIDS crisis, we are reminded how the queer body has been politicised and policed in our recent history. Trans and gender non-conforming bodies continue to be oppressed by those who do not inhabit them. With the wonderful Madi Gianfrancesco (Pride@CNWL non-binary lead, and Social Worker, Westminster).
