The work of CNWL’s Kensington and Chelsea Employment Service Team was highly commended in the Team of the Year at the British Association for Supported Employment Conference.
The team exceeded its target (145 clients used the service from April 2020-March 2021, target was 129); and 13 clients supported into permanent work for the first quarter of this year.
Nik Galanis, K&C Employment Services Team Leader, said: “We wouldn’t have got it without the incredible work of everyone in the team and all the employers who have been so supportive, helping us get our clients into paid employment, and our partner organisations, without whom, we wouldn’t have the skillset to help our clients.”
The team very quickly recognised that due to Covid-19 and remote-working it would need to work differently by using social media far more to engage with partners and potential employers.
The use of LinkedIn secured seven jobs including five home working roles.
94 per cent of clients say the service was excellent/good.
One said: They have been there for me, I knew they would help me, they were honest with me and they have a very strong relationship with my employers. Having a job has made me think of new goals in my life…I am happy, I feel more positive in life and I feel like am in a better place than I was a year ago.”
