CNWL’s Clinical network lead for psychological medicine, Dr Alex Thomson, who is a consultant liaison psychiatrist at Northwick Park, is quoted in an article by the BMJ looking at how staff are trying to ensure that vulnerable psychiatric patients do not get sidelined by Covid-19.

Dr Thomson refers to the Mental Health Emergency Centre set up there and adds: “The advantage [of the emergency centre] is you can concentrate mental health expertise and skills and getting the right response, and you have much more control over your environment, which can be slightly calmer and less hurried than A&E.”
