Jenny Lanyero, Team Manager, Brent Health Matters, Health Inequalities Team and Samuel Opoku-Mensah, Kershaw Ward Manager, attended an event at 10 Downing Street last month. The event was a celebration and a thank you to NHS staff for their hard work.
Hosted by the Prime Minter, 20 NHS staff members from different Trusts and services from across the country gathered in the garden with canapes and refreshments.
Jenny and Samuel were nominated to attend by Robyn Doran, CNWL’s Chief Operating Officer, for the outstanding work they and their teams have been doing this past year.
Samuel Opoku-Mensah said:
“I would like to pass my gratitude to Robyn Doran for selecting me to attend the Prime Minister's garden party at No 10 Downing Street.
This is evident that hard work pays and staff at Kershaw Ward forever appreciate that senior management continue to acknowledge the role we played during the peak of the pandemic.
I am very honoured.”
Talking about the event, Jenny Lanyero said:
“When the Prime Minister came out he addressed us all, thanked us for all the hard work we have done during the pandemic and generally. He called out our names, mentioning where we work and what he was told we were doing. I told him about the health inequalities work and he said ‘marvellous’ and moved on.
He said he was grateful for the NHS, mentioned how he was looked after when he contracted Covid. General questions about NHS funding were asked and he agreed that it’s very important we keep the NHS going. He talked about the vaccination roll out and how other countries are impressed with the NHS and what it has done. He was impressed by what was being done to address hesitancy such as using community and faith leads.
Thanks for the nomination, I told my mum! I am glad I went and I got to meet and connect with other people from different Trusts and services.”
