Dr Azer Mohammed is to be the new Clinical Director for London Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in CNWL; starting in the first week of July.
Up until now the post was combined with Eating Disorders Services, but it has been separated in recognition of the demands on both services.
Dr Frances Connan will be the Clinical Director for London Eating Disorder Services (now a much larger role with the advent of the Provider Collaborative) and Dr Mohammed for London CAMHS.
Dr Mohammed says:
“It will certainly be an interesting and challenging role given the huge increase in demand for CAMHS services since the pandemic, but one which I am looking forward to. I have been in the Trust as a Consultant in Westminster since 2007, initially at the Marlborough Family Service, now Westminster CAMHS.
“My areas of interest are complex trauma and attachment, family law, and young offenders including those families at risk of extremism. I organise Royal College of Psychiatrist workshops and have presented at national conferences on these topics.
“Outside of work, much of my time is taken up with a young family, living in north London. I enjoy running and cycling, but am dreading returning to watch Arsenal slide into mediocrity next season.”
