Five new videos have been released by Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust to help support people with a learning disability, their families and carers adjust to life after national restrictions.

The videos range from helping carers and families understand how people with a learning disability might be feeling about the easing of restrictions, to helping people with a learning disability manage their anxiety.

An accompanying booklet called ‘Moving forward from lockdown: A resource booklet for People with Learning Disabilities, Family Members and Carers’ is also available with further information and support, including a template for making a coming out of lockdown plan. How to support people with a learning disability ease out of lockdown

This video explains to carers and families how people with a learning disability might be feeling as we ease out of national restrictions. This video also provides some tips and resources for carers and families to help ease the transition out of lockdown.

Coming Out of Lockdown

This video is to help people with learning disabilities understand the new rules as England comes out of national restrictions. It also provides guidance to help them adapt to the changes in rules.

Keeping Healthy

This is a video for people with a learning disability, it provides information and advice about having a healthy lifestyle.

Feeling Anxious when coming out of lockdown

This video explains to people with learning disabilities that it is normal to feel worried or anxious about the easing of national restrictions and offers advice on how to manage feelings and emotions that could arise.

Understanding depression

This video helps a person with a learning disability understand depression. It will outline how someone might feel and give advice and examples of activities that might help a person feel better.
