This information is to help EU Nationals who may be patients prepare for when Britain leaves the EU, next week, on Thursday 31 December 2020; it is a stressful time and we are here to help so please use services like Talking Therapies if you need to – see Talking Therapies website.

However, you need to know that in six months’ time, from Thursday 1 July 2021, healthcare will only be free by law if you hold EU Settled Status (EUSS).

EU citizens living in the UK on Thursday 31 December 2020 can apply (by Wednesday 30 June 2021); the Government process is here.

Those living in the UK without EUSS status, or who have not made an application, will be charged for NHS treatment (several treatments – like urgent care - are exempt).

If you have any questions about this or about the treatment of overseas visitors in CNWL services, please e-mail our Overseas Visitor Manager on cnw-tr.overseas@nhs.net
