An outdoor exercise park has been installed on CNWL’s Colne Ward, based at Riverside Centre in Hillingdon. It is situated next to the acute treatment ward, allowing service users or staff members to exercise in a secure open-air environment.
This new fitness area upgrades the previous outdoor space, and you can see all the pictures below. The upgrade comes from funding for ward improvements.
The outdoor gym was unveiled in a ribbon-cutting ceremony last week (9 November), with colleagues on Colne Ward demonstrating to patients how to effectively use the equipment. The space includes a mix of gym units for cardiovascular and strength-based workouts as well as sports and recreational facilities:
- A basketball ring and table tennis table
- An arm and pedal exercise bike
- A combination lat pull and chest press
- An elliptical cross-trainer
- A cross rider
Team members on Colne Ward are excited to be utilising the new equipment and outdoor area saying:
“From start to finish, it has taken a year to get the gym installed and we are really happy with the result. This is a great way for service users on the ward to get exercise and they don’t miss out on any activities. We are looking forward to being able to promote and provide physical wellbeing to our service users.”
