CNWL’s Single Point of Access (SPA) service has celebrated its tenth anniversary.
Set up in 2015, SPA became the central hub for all mental health referrals and crisis calls. As Selena Cox, Director of Urgent Care (who managed the service from its inception), put it – the goal was to “demystify access to mental health services and make sure there was no wrong door.”
To mark the occasion, the team held an away day at St Anne’s Church Hall in Soho. Staff from both adult and CAMHS SPA teams came along, as well as the QI team, new SPA Consultant Sara Kettley, and Managing Director, Sabrina Phillips, who dropped in for a quick visit.
It was a chance to reflect on what the team has achieved – handling between 4,000 and 9,000 calls a month, and around 43,000 referrals since the service began. There was also plenty of chat about what’s next for SPA.
SPA became an all-age integrated service in 2021, and it continues to be a vital part of how people access mental health support across London and Milton Keynes.
Well done to the team for their amazing work and here’s to the next 10 years!
