The North Central London Integrated Care System (NCL ICS) is launching the Community Neuroscience Project - that will build connections between clinicians from community services as well as primary and secondary care.
The project is led by University College London Hospital and Royal Free London NHS Trust’s with support from CNWL.
The idea is to help build a cohesive neurological network across NCL, raising the profile and effectiveness of community-based services, and ensuring that patients receive the right care in a timely manner.
So far, the project has launched the following outreach initiatives:
- Mapping the existing neuroscience services (including community services) across NCL
- Establishing a senior panel of neuroscience specialists to help support local services and coordinate neuroscience-related care for NCL residents in virtual clinics
- The NCL neurology pathways for headache, dizziness and transient loss of consciousness were updated with support from NCL neurologists
- Gathering feedback from GP practices across NCL on their experience of neuroscience-related services
- A neurological seminar series with support from NCL neurologists is being developed, to be delivered once Covid pressures have settled
Rebecca Dunkerley, Head of CNWL’s Head of Integrated Adult Services in Camden says: "It shows a great partnership approach to support pan-NCL patients needing intervention and how community teams can help to see patients out of hospitals."
