Falls are a leading cause of injury among older adults in Hillingdon. They can lead to hospital admissions and a decline in a person’s functional ability. Let’s work together to prevent falls and protect our residents.
By focusing on prevention, we can help create a safer, more confident community where everyone can live independently for longer.
Our resoruces are for all, ensuring that both carers and residents have access to practical support.

Falls can have long-lasting psychological effects, including a loss of confidence and a reduced ability to live independently.
Local data indicates that falls are particularly prevalent in care homes, extra care settings, and sheltered housing, with higher numbers of ambulance call-outs and hospital admissions.
The importance of strength and balance training is well-supported by evidence, including guidance guidance from NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence), showing that personalised exercises can significantly reduce the risk of falls and enhance stability.
