We have made some improvements to our CAMHS website following feedback from young people.

Service users wanted the website to look friendlier, less cluttered and have a smooth user journey with information being up to date and easier to find.

To achieve this, we have made changes to the following web pages:

  • CAMHS Homepage
    • Changed images on buttons to young people using the service and CNWL staff instead of stock images
    • Reviewed language to remove words like 'complex Mental problems' and adapted the tone of voice to speak directly to young people and families
    • Added direct links to our CAMHS community teams, and inpatient teams’ services. Each borough and inpatient teams' pages have also been updated.
    • Removed unnecessary text to create more white space and used consistent colours
    • Updated content about the CAMHS service text and created a new ‘About CAMHS’ video
    • 'How to make a referral (which will be consistent throughout the site)
  • Online self-help and support
    • This page now gives more visibility to Kooth, Best for you, Qwell, and Hub of hope as CNWL approved services
  • Single Point of Access (SPA)
    • Layout of this page has been re-arranged to make information easier to read and find

Tina Swain, Service Director for CAMHS and Eating Disorders said

"We are committed to and welcome co-production with our young people to improve our services. Since going live, the feedback from young people has been positive. When visiting the homepage, they felt that it looked friendlier, calm and less cluttered. One young person also said acronyms can be confusing and therefore liked the fact these were written in full where possible.

We know that coming to CAMHS can be a worrying time for children and young people, anything we can do to reduce this stress and prepare the young person goes a long way towards ensuring they have a positive experience of our services. We are hugely proud of the new ‘About CAMHS’ video which have been well received by our children as it could help them feel more prepared on what to expect when visiting the service."

Our videos and characters have been created by CAMHS young people for young people.

Young people volunteered to help with writing the script, voice over and acting in the films. They also helped improve our website. Their involvement means we can improve the CAMHS journey for everyone.
