Chief Nurse, Amanda Pithouse, and Director of Therapies, Ryan Kemp, are marking National Allied Health Professionals (AHP) Day on 14 October by celebrating our colleagues and thanking them for their invaluable contribution.
As the third-largest clinical workforce in the NHS, AHPs play a vital role in helping patients and service users achieve their goals, working across health, social care, housing, education, justice, and beyond.
In CNWL we are lucky to have a dedicated, thriving and innovative group of AHPs made up of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, dieticians, paramedics, art therapists, drama therapists, dance movement psychotherapists, music therapists and podiatrists.
We have over 1,200 registered and unregistered AHP staff working across the Trust in mental health and physical health; inpatient and community services as well as our specialist clinical areas.
For all the AHP’s out there – today we thank you for all you do everyday and hope you go about your day with pride and shout loud about your profession, your role and the impact you make every day.
Emma Nicklin, Associate Director of Allied Health Professions and Trust Head of Profession for Occupational Therapy
"There is no doubt that the last year has been the busiest yet; we have seen increased pressure on our AHP staff and the services they provide. In these challenging times it can be hard to stop and appreciate the vital roles you all play. We want to take this opportunity to encourage all our AHP’s to reflect on their achievement as individual practitioners and teams over the last year. Our AHP community in CNWL is strong and on National AHP day, it is important for us all to come together and celebrate."
As part of our CNWL celebrations we will be hosting a Therapies Showcase on the 15 October; this online event is open to everyone. This will include short 10-minute presentations showcasing the brilliant work happening across our Trust. Sessions will highlight projects, innovations, successes and lessons learned.
A great way to celebrate our AHP colleagues is to nominate them for the CNWL Therapies awards. Staff can find all the information on Trustnet.
