We are delighted to announce that CNWL have been awarded the ‘Use of Technology’ Award at this year’s UK Clinical Pharmacy Congress (CPC) 2025. The award was received by our Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EMPA) team for their project integrating an Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) in our electronic patient record system.
By implementing an electronic system, the EMPA team aimed to tackle the issue of misplacement and mistakes in prescribing and dispensing that can happen with paper prescriptions. With this new system, which began being implemented in the trust in 2022, clinicians can send patient prescriptions electronically to their local pharmacies. Now that it has been fully implemented, the EPS system simplifies the process, eliminates costs and reduces the need for paper prescriptions. Find out more about the project here.

TF Chan, Chief Pharmacist and Controlled Drug Accountable Officer, said:
“The feedback from our service users was instrumental in securing this award. Stakeholders across the EPS project have highlighted how it has positively impacted their experiences, enhanced patient safety and ensuring quicker access to medications.
“A huge congratulations to the EPMA team! We are truly honoured to receive this award, especially when competing alongside so many outstanding submissions”.
