We’re delighted to share some positive news: the Grenfell Health and Wellbeing Service (GHWS) has had funding confirmed initially up until 2027.

This means the service will remain a vital source of care and support for bereaved families, survivors, and the wider community right through to and beyond the 10-year anniversary of the Grenfell Tower fire - that will be in June 2027 – as we continue to work with partners to make sure appropriate provision remains, based on the needs of local people.

This announcement shows CNWL's absolute long‑term promise to serve with compassion, consistency and respect.

This commitment reflects the importance of the service in the healing journey of the community and ensures stability and continuity at a time when reassurance matters most. While longer term national decisions about funding beyond 2027 are still to come, we hope this clarity brings comfort and confidence as we move forward together.

We recognise how significant and emotional this moment is for many across the Grenfell community. Our commitment is to be present with all bereaved, survivors, residents and the wider community with compassion, respect and steady support.

To the bereaved and survivors

We know that any message about the future of the GHWS can bring up strong emotions. Your losses, your experiences and your needs remain at the heart of every decision we make. We want to reassure you that our commitment to you has not changed since 2017. The trust you’ve placed in us over these eight and a half years has shaped everything about this service, and we will continue to be guided by what matters most to you.

To the wider Grenfell-impacted community

We are grateful for the relationships built over the years and for the ways you’ve helped us grow, learn and adapt the service. Your voices, your honesty, and your wisdom continue to guide how we move forward together. We see the strength, the fatigue and the resilience within this community, and we remain committed to standing alongside you.

To our staff

Thank you for your ongoing care, dedication, and consistency in supporting the community. This work is deeply meaningful and often demanding, and we recognise the commitment you bring every day. As we move into this next phase, we will continue supporting you to keep communication clear, grounded, and aligned with the needs of the bereaved, survivors, and the wider community.

Working together on the future of support

From now until the 10-year anniversary, we want to work alongside you to shape what mental health support should look like in the years ahead. This will not be a one-off consultation. Instead, we will create a range of opportunities for bereaved, survivors, the community and partner organisations to share what matters to you.

These conversations will help ensure that the lessons, truths and wisdom from the past eight and a half years are fully embedded across the NHS, forming a legacy that reflects the community’s calls for safety, justice and meaningful change.

We will offer different ways to take part so people can choose what feels most comfortable and safe.

How to stay involved

Information about upcoming conversations and ways to share your views will be available on our website and social media channels. We’ll also provide an online space where you can share your thoughts at any time about the future of NHS mental health support for the Grenfell community.

Claire Murdoch, Chief Executive of Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust said:

“I’m deeply relieved and grateful that we now have clarity around the future of this truly remarkable and specialised service. The Grenfell Health and Wellbeing Service has become an integral part of the community’s healing journey - providing not just clinical care, but a compassionate, culturally sensitive space where people feel seen, heard, and supported. The extension of funding is a recognition of the enduring impact of the tragedy and the ongoing needs of the bereaved, survivors, and wider community”.

“We remain absolutely committed to walking this path with you in a way that is open, gentle, and respectful. We will continue to listen, to learn, and to work alongside you - ensuring that everything you’ve taught us remains at the heart of how we move forward together.”
