YourStance and the Health and Justice Learning Hub for London (HJLH) are proud to announce a new partnership bringing vital life-saving training to every prison across London.

People in prison can often face a wide range of scenarios where knowing how to respond quickly and effectively can mean the difference between life and death. Recognising this, we are launching a comprehensive program of Zero Responder” sessions, teaching CPR, basic life support, and bleed control across all London prisons over the next year.

Building on the success of YourStance’s previous work in prisons, where

  • 94% of prison attendees said that they felt more confident about what to do in a situation in which somebody has been injured.
  • 85% of prison attendees said the session made them feel safer.

This expanded program will ensure that more people are equipped with essential emergency response skills. The project is being led by one of our experienced coordinators, who comes with a wealth of knowledge and experience to aid this collaboration and is supported by NHSE Commissioners and the prison service to maximise the reach of the work.

A previous participant has said I really enjoyed the session, the two teachers gave us a really good lesson that could help us or anyone else in need. - Male, 25, prison

Additionally, for those unable to attend in person, short educational videos with key messages will be shared across the Prison TV network. These will include crucial elements and skills in how to save a life.

This innovative and empowering initiative will make sure accessible, practical and simple life saving skills are available to those who most need them.
