This week (3 – 9 May 2021) has been Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week, with a theme of ‘Journeys to Recovery’.

Next week (10-16 May 2021) is Mental Health Awareness Week with the theme this year being 'Nature'.

CNWL is proud to support both awareness weeks.

This week we have spoken with two women from Milton Keynes who have used our perinatal mental health service there and are now on their own roads to recovery.

Their stories are difficult to read or to listen to but they show how we have been able to help.

The stories are “How CNWL helped new mum Laura” and “CNWL helps promote Maternal Mental Health Awareness

We have also published an update on our new Maternal Mental Health Service (MMHS) that celebrates the good work all our services are undertaking.

You can find out more about the services we run in Hillingdon, Kensington and Chelsea,  Milton Keynes or Westminster or read or listen to their stories here.

Details of the week are here.

Mental Health Awareness Week is hosted by the Mental Health Foundation. Details of the week are here.

Mental Health Awareness week gives the chance to focus on achieving good mental health. This year the focus is on the benefits nature has for our mental health. It explores ideas that nature isn’t a luxury but a resource that should be available to all as it can help us cope with stress.

We know though that the past year has been difficult for many people because of the Covid-19 pandemic and there have been increasing concerns about mental health and wellbeing.

If you have been struggling, CNWL is here to help. We run Talking Therapies Services throughout North West London and in Milton Keynes.

These are here for you if you are feeling low, anxious, stressed, depressed or finding it difficult to cope. Common difficulties include isolation, bereavement, panic attacks, drinking or eating more and taking drugs. If you’re feeling this way talk to someone before it gets out of hand.

We are part of the national NHS ‘Improving Access to Psychological Therapy’ service which provides a range of talking therapies for people who feel anxious and worried or down or depressed.

Our Talking Therapies services across the North West London Health and Care Partnership have also been running a campaign for the last few months to remind local residents that mental health services are open and here for them during the pandemic and beyond.

With restrictions easing, you may be finding it difficult to get back to your old routines. We’re here for you.

The pandemic has been tough on staff, not just health and care staff but all keyworkers so we are also looking after the wellbeing of keyworkers, who may be suffering from anxiety or depression, through Keeping Well services in North West London and across Bedford, Luton and Milton Keynes.

Internally, CNWL is presenting a number of online webinars, panel discussions and virtual interactive events to celebrate Mental Health Awareness Week,
